These guys were great fun, really chilled. Unfortunately their toddler decided that she didn’t want to be in any shots. Dispite us all trying our best to cajole her, she’d made up her mind. Apparently this was really unlike her.
It’s not that uncommon though. I tend to suggest with a newborn shoot if there are older siblings to dedicate at least half the time to just the newborn and mum and dad. Then perhaps the toddler can come along – this works well a lot of the time, as the toddler can then have a lot of attention – but as in this case I wonder if the fact we were taking pictures before her of her new baby brother was the problem. Who knows. With just a week to adjust to have a new baby in the house and having been at nursery for the morning and being a toddler … it could have been one of many things.
BUT … although no-one would choose those circumstances this is what’s it’s like being a family (and being a family photographer!) you roll with the punches. It really surprises me how sometimes the mix of ingredients goes to create some lovely shots.
