This was a really lovely shoot. Turns out that these guys have a son who goes to the same nursery as my daughter, he’s in the same room, but they go on different days so our (and their) path’s haven’t crossed. I can’t imagine having 3 children yet, (2’s enough at the moment!) and 3 boys as well – good luck Mum!
It’s nice to have a newborn shoot combined with some shots of the older children. I tend to suggest having some dedicated time with just the newborn and mum and dad – whether this will work perfectly is luck of the draw – and then some time just with the toddler(s).
Splitting a shoot so that we’re trying to achieve lots can be a bit of a false economy – you end up not getting enough of each type of shot – and lots of distractions – but then family life can be pretty hectic and perhaps it’s best for me to try and capture that. As you can tell I’m undecided.
This shoot – it worked well, when one of the toddlers needed a break I could try and get some other shots – little baby Fenix was asleep for 20 mins in the middle of the shoot – which worked – we / everyone was flexible – the way you have to be with a young family.
